Phrase structure tree for inscription M-165.  The inscription (top node)
contains three units of information (Units 1, 2, 3), each of which is
subdivided into (P)M(T).  Some possible elements do not occur, shown as
a zero with a slash through it.
In the two previous posts, I mentioned phrase structure trees but was unable to insert them in the relevant positions.  They are included here.

Seal M-165 with inscription shown in phrase structure tree above:
2 POSTS / TRI-FORK / POTTED ONE / SINGLE QUOTE //
TRI-FORK TOPPED POT / POT // DOTTED DUCK HEAD //
POT // CIRCLED VEE (analysis PT-MT-M).  Absence of M
in the first unit is unusual.

The inscription on M-165 is interesting because it appears to include three units of information.  These units differ in length, with each successive unit shorter than the one before.  I term this a compound inscription.  It is not complex, however, because the units are simply placed one after the other.  The following inscription, M-358, appears to show a complex structure.

Bar seal M-358 with inscription: SINGLE POST / STRIPED BISECTED TRIANGLE /
BI-QUOTES // CIRCLED FORK / WHISKERED FISH // SPEAR // SINGLE QUOTE //
THREE QUOTES (analyzed as {PMT}PM).

Phrase structure tree of inscription M-358 showing apparent embedding of one
unit of information within the prefix of the larger unit.  In other words, the
first PMT unit appears to function as the variable of a prefix, followed by M.
